The Copa America soccer tournament, which is South America's premier national team competition, will be held in the United States in 2024.

The event will include teams from South America's CONMEBOL and the CONCACAF region, which covers North and Central America and the Caribbean.

The tournament will be jointly organized by both confederations as part of a new partnership between them.

This event is also considered as a preparation leading to 2026 World Cup hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Additionally, it will provide more competitive matches for the host nations in preparation for the expanded 48-team World Cup. The six CONCACAF national teams will need to qualify for the Copa America through the 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League competition.

The tournament was originally intended to be hosted by Ecuador but they decided not to host it. CONCACAF will also organize a 'Final Four' style competition in 2024 featuring the top four club teams from the two regions.

Furthermore, there will be collaboration in women's football with CONCACAF inviting the four best teams from South America to participate in the new CONCACAF W Gold Cup in 2024.

The four participating clubs, two from each confederation, will qualify through existing CONMEBOL and CONCACAF club competitions.

This partnership is aimed at supporting the growth of men's and women's football in CONCACAF and CONMEBOL and is expected to provide more opportunities for the federations and fans.

The United States previously hosted a special centenary Copa America edition in 2016, which also featured CONCACAF teams.

The tournament will be held in the United States, and the CONCACAF W Gold Cup will also be held in the United States featuring teams from Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Paraguay.

In conclusion, the collaboration between the two confederations will lead to more elite competitions and more opportunities for the teams and fans to enjoy competitive football.
